What is AIS? AIS is short for Automatic Identification System. It is a system for identifying and locating ships by exchanging data using standard radio frequency transceivers. The International Maritime Organization (IMO), an agency of the United Nations (UN) requires ships to send AIS signals for a better security at sea.
